Maison Jansen French antique chairs and table from the family of Stephane Boudin

We are delighted to present a fine and important selection of SIGNED, JANSEN furniture. PROVENANCE: the descendants of STEPHANE BOUDIN, PRESIDENT OF MAISON JANSEN (1936-1961) and France's most important Interior Designer.

Boudin is best known for his designs for The Duke and Duchess of Windsor, The Royal Family of Belgium and The White House (for Jacqueline Kennedy). All pieces were created during what is considered the most important period in Maison Jansen's illustrious history (circa 1945), and are branded JANSEN.

OUR JANSEN COLLECTION WAS FEATURED IN HOMESCAPE, published by The Record/Herald News.

A FINE AND ELEGANT PAIR OF WHITE PAINTED, PARCEL GILT, SIGNED JANSEN FAUTEUILS in the Louis XVI taste. These measure 36" tall by 22" wide by 22" deep, are covered in muslin and are branded JANSEN.

An almost identical pair is featured on page 38 of James Abbott's book JANSEN. Provenance: The descendants of Stephane Boudin.

AN EXCEPTIONAL AND BEAUTIFUL SUITE OF 4 LOUIS XVI MANNER, PAINTED AND PARCEL GILT, SIGNED JANSEN SIDE CHAIRS with medallion-shaped back-rest. The paint is original to the chairs, as is most of the pure 22 karat gold leaf gilding. These measure 37.5" in height by 21" wide by 21" deep.

Branded JANSEN.

Fine French antique signed Jansen Mahogany eleven foot dining table with three leaves and gilt bronze details from the family of Stephane Boudin

This finest quality, Louis XVI manner, SIGNED JANSEN MAHOGANY DINING TABLE, WITH BRONZE DORE DETAILS measures 76.5 inches in length when it is closed. With its three leaves this opens to 11 feet. The width is 44.25 inches and the height is 29 inches. The table has an extra pair of support legs that can be lowered when the leaves are added. The table is branded JANSEN.

Jansen tables of this size, with three leaves, are very difficult to find.
Images of the table open with all three leaves is available upon request.

AN EXCEPTIONAL SUITE OF 12 SIGNED JANSEN, LOUIS XVI MANNER DINING CHAIRS with distressed white painted frames. The paint has been refreshed on these. These measure 39" in height by 19" in width by 20" deep. Branded JANSEN.

The beautiful curved back is a more exquisite and harder to find item, among the Louis XVI style JANSEN dining chairs. These are very comfortable too, as they are wide and deep enough for formal dining....a special find indeed.

It would be our pleasure to assist our clients in reupholstering these chairs. Our antique restorer is also available to refresh the paint. These would look exquisite refreshed with a soft white/grey paint and upholstered in a very pale-blue silk fabric or a white striped (tone on tone) silk. Paint finishes would be handled meeting strict conservation guidelines.

MAISON JANSEN and STEPHANE BOUDIN

The renowned interior design firm, MAISON JANSEN, was founded by Jean-Henri Jansen in 1880. With a strong commitment to accurately representing 18th-Century design with the highest standards of excellence, Jansen was soon to become the design firm to Royalty and a global enterprise with satellite boutiques around the world.

STEPHANE JULES LEON BOUDIN joined Maison Jansen in the early 1920's and served as its President from 1936-1961. Boudin is best known for his designs for The Duke and Duchess of Windsor, The Royal Family of Belgium, The White House (for Jacqueline Kennedy), as well as many other clients of prestige. Boudin's name has become synonymous with the Jansen Style. His commitment to interpreting 18th-Century French design with historical accuracy, while incorporating elements of the modern aesthetic, brought this international design house to the height of its reign. By the time Boudin was President of Jansen, it was unsurpassed in both its scope and level of excellence. Jansen was certainly the most important Interior Design Firm of the 20th-Century and Stephane Boudin is considered France's most important designer.

19th century French Antique Louis XV gitwood aubusson salon suite, settee and two chairs

A FINE 19th CENTURY FRENCH, AUBUSSON, SALON SUITE.

Exceptional three piece giltwood parlor set, in the Louis XV manner. It is very possible the French, antique tapestry is original to the set. The settee measures just one inch short of 6 feet long. At the center crest it measures 3 feet 10" tall.

		TURN OF THE CENTURY FRENCH, LOUIS XVI STYLE GILDWOOD SETTEE An elegant settee measuring 6 feet 2" in width by 3 feet 4 1/2" tall at its camel back. Four legs at the back indicate finest craftsmanship. Also the camel back is more unusual on the Louis XVI style pieces. The fabric on the back is a coordinating cream and beige set in a checkered pattern. There are minor losses to the gilding which will be restored by our professional antique restorer, before this piece leaves our gallery. The gilding is exquisite, as it is 22 karat gold leaf; this is a very lovely piece.

A FINEST QUALITY, EARLY 1900's, ONYX-TOP GUERIDON with EXCEPTIONAL MOUNTS FROM FRANCE'S PREMIERE EBENISTE

FRANCOIS LINKE, 1855 - 1946

Fine French Antique Francois Linke onyx top gueridon with bronze putti mounts

In its fine original condition, this exceptional Louis XVI manner gueridon with a single frieze drawer, superbly cast bronze mounts and onyx top, measures 29.75 inches in height by 20.75 inches in diameter.

FRANCOIS LINKE, born in Pankraz, Bohemia, is considered to have been the greatest Parisian cabinetmaker of his time.

Linke worked closely with the enigmatic sculptor Leon Message, creating a new and captivating style which combined elements of the rococo with the fashionable l'art nouveau. This master ebeniste received critical acclaim at the Paris Exposition Universelle in 1900, where he won the coveted Gold Medal.

Considered among the most important furniture makers from the late 1800s through the early 1900s, Linke's pieces are prized by collectors worldwide.

		SUPERB 19TH CENTURY-TURN-OF-THE-CENTURY FRENCH, LOUIS XV MANNER, 9 PIECE PARLOR SUITE FRANCOIS LINKE (1855 - 1946)

	EACH PIECE SIGNED LINKE AND IN ITS ORIGINAL CONDITION This finest quality Walnut, Parcel-Gilt, Nine Piece Parlor Suite, in the Louis XV taste, is comprised of 1 settee, 2 arm chairs and 6 side chairs. Each piece is adorned with gilded wood-carved c-scrolls, rocaille and leaf details, as well as elegant wood-carved gold-leaf roses and delicate flora. (The entire structure, both the frame and the gilded details, are carved from one piece of wood). The pieces are signed and in their original condition, including what remains from the original fabric. The settee measures 39.5" tall by 70" wide by 29" deep. The arm chairs measure 38.5" tall by 25" wide by 22.5" deep. And, the side chairs measure 35.5" tall by 20.5" wide by 19.5" deep. This suite has undergone a few, minor (age appropriate), restorations. These were handled in a manner that respected the integrity and historic value of the set.

	PROVENANCE: From a fine East Coast Estate. The previous owners purchased this suite from Maranca Antiques of Philadelphia. Maranca was one of the first Fine Antique businesses in the US to offer pieces by France's premier furniture makers, including pieces made by Linke and Sormani. We are told that Al Maranca purchased this suite at an, East Coast, auction in the mid to late 70's, and that he also purchased Linke's famous Grande Bibliotheque, possibly at that same sale. We continue to research this and hope to uncover more details related to provenance.

			A FINE GILT-BRONZE MOUNTED TABLE DE MILIEU, FRENCH CIRCA 1890. With a brocatelle violette du Jura marble top and a single frieze drawer, this elegant and rich mahogany 19th century French Table de Milieu measures 30" in height, 38.5" in width and 22.25" in depth. The finely cast gilt-bronze mounts with their bow motif and garlands of leaves and roses are especially lovely.

EARLY 1900's LOUIS XV STYLE LADY'S WRITING DESK WITH ORMOLU MOUNTS


	A lovely, Louis XV Manner, antique lady's writing desk with fruitwood and mahogany veneers, dovetailed drawers with oak linings, gilt bronze mounts, amphitheater top with brass gallery and ivory to rose marble over two short drawers and pull-out leather writing surface. 38.75 x 29.5 x 20.5 in.

FINE 19th CENTURY-TURN OF THE CENTURY FRENCH GILT BRONZE MARBLE-TOP GUERIDON WITH EXCEPTIONAL AND MORE UNUSUAL TWIST LEGS

An exquisite Louis XVI manner, French antique, gueridon with marble-top measuring 27.5 inches in height by 23 inches in diameter. The superb twist legs, and bird heads, are more unusual to this style piece. The patina is exceptional.. (New images will be posted once the lower tier marble is replaced).

From an esteemed private collection of fine French antiques. The previous owner purchased this gueridon at Sotheby's NY in the 1970s. This is an exceptional and exquisite piece.

			18th-CENTURY FRENCH LOUIS XV MARBLE-TOP WOOD-CARVED CONSOLE

			A wonderful, petite, 18th-Century French, Louis XV marble-top console, measuring 18 inches wide by 13 inches deep, with nice rococo carvings and a breche d' Alep marble top.

A 19th CENTURY FRENCH CARVED PARCEL GILT SILK UPHOLSTERED BENCH
IN THE LOUIS XV TASTE

MEASURING 38 INCHES WIDE

A lovely 19th century French carved parcel gilt bench, with tufted gold silk upholstery and shell and foliate carved stretchers and legs. Measures 22 tall x 38 wide x 18.25 in. deep.

18th CENTURY LOUIS XV CARVED AND PARCEL GILT UPHOLSTERED PAINTED BENCH MEASURING 46 INCHES WIDE BY 22 INCHES DEEP

An 18th century Louis XV, carved and parcel gilt, painted bench, with tufted white upholstered seat, fine mask carved knees, pierced carved shell rails on foliate carved legs with scrolled feet. 17.25" tall x 46" wide x 22" deep at the top of the legs. The upholstered seat measures 21" deep (the carvings of the legs actually measure 22" deep), making this ideal for a coffee table. 	EARLY 1900'S SIGNED JANSEN BENCH AN EARLY 1900'S SIGNED JANSEN, LOUIS XVI MANNER, PAINTED UPHOLSTERED BENCH 19" TALL by 43.25" WIDE by 15.5" DEEP The Louis XVI manner signed JANSEN bench, with bronze rosettes, is upholstered in a luxurious blush colored mohair. This bench was featured at The Designer Showhouse of New Jersey, 2008.

Beautiful X base, silk upholstered, paint decorated bench. The seat measures 23" wide and 17" deep.

SIGNED JANSEN
PAINTED AND PARCEL GILT TABOURET

This signed JANSEN Painted and Parcel Gilt Tabouret has an X frame base and measures
21.5 "h. x 25.5"w. x 16"d. With antiqued, white paint and gold leaf details this is a classic. It is almost identical to the beautiful tabouret featured above.

We are in the process of re-upholstering this piece; the fabric in the above image is not yet attached and is one of a few fabric choices that we will select. Our antique restorer is also planning to refresh the paint and the 22 karat gold leafing, following strict conservation guidelines.

SILK UPHOLSTERED LOUIS XVI MANNER
EARLY 1900's TABOURET

24.75 wide by 18.75" by 18" tall

This piece has beautiful Louis XVI period style carvings and would make a lovely ottoman.

Wonderful piece, with early 1900's English upholsterer's label beneath. The silk is pale blue and there are pale silver sequins sewn throughout. The beige paint is old, but is not original to the piece.

					PAIR OF 19th CENTURY FRENCH GILTWOOD SIDE-CHAIRS. 37" tall by 20" wide Decorative pair of 19th century French upholstered side chairs with delicate cabriole legs. There have been restorations to the wood frames and the gilding. Newly reupholstered in an elegant, light blue and sand, colored damask.

Pair of French antique painted fauteuils

PAIR OF EARLY 1900's LOUIS XV STYLE FAUTEUILS.

Strong, well made pair of painted, light green, and upholstered chairs measuring 2 feet 1" at their widest point and 3 feet 2" high at the crest.

		GOOD TURN OF THE CENTURY, LOUIS XV MANNER PARQUETRY MARBLE-TOP COMMODE WITH BRONZE MOUNTS. Very pretty antique Tulipwood and Rosewood Parquetry two-drawer commode in the Louis XV taste, adorned with bronze mounts and escutcheons. The serpentine-fronted beveled marble is in soft shades of beige and light brown with a touch of rouge and appears to be original to the piece. 33 1/4" ht; 47 1/4" L.

19th CENTURY FRENCH LOUIS XVI STYLE CARVED AND GILDED MARBLE-TOP DEMI-LUNE CONSOLE TABLE.

Measuring 32" in height, 20" wide and 10" deep. Has a wonderful patina and retains its original marble.



			EARLY 1900s ROCOCO STYLE GILTWOOD CONSOLE. Decorative console measures 39" wide, 3 feet 5 1/2" tall and 18 inches deep, at the top. Our antique restorer is available to restore the losses to the gilding. This piece was formerly sold at Christie's Auction House.

18th CENTURY LOUIS XV MARBLE-TOP GILTWOOD CONSOLE

18th century, Louis XV, giltwood console with a rouge marble-top. This measures 35"h x 42 1/2"w x 20 1/8"d. There are some minor age appropriate losses to some very small areas of the gilding and some old repairs.

19th CENTURY LOUIS XV MANNER MARBLE-TOP GILTWOOD CONSOLE

This 19th century, Rococo taste, measures 39 1/4"h x 50 1/2"w x 22 1/2"d.

This console is not in our New Jersey showroom, it will be shipped from out of state.


		19th CENTURY FRENCH LOUIS XVI STYLE PAINTED OCCASIONAL TABLE. Painted side table measuring 21 3/4" high and 18 1/2" in diameter. The marble top is not original to the piece.
